Harbour officials ponder new plan
Bridlington
It is claimed a marina is key to the resort's regeneration
Officials responsible for the running of Bridlington's harbour are considering their position on plans for a new marina at the resort.

Harbour Board delegates and the East Riding Council met for the first time since the two sides fell out recently.

After a "frank and open discussion" on whether the two sides could work together the Harbour Commissioners are expected to give an answer next week.

An East Riding of Yorkshire Council spokeswoman said the mood was positive.

Clear answer

"There was a frank and open discussion looking at the proposed plans for working together.

"The councillors asked for a clear answer on whether the Harbour Commissioners want to work together with the council.

"The commissioners will have a meeting next Tuesday and we should know after that.

"There was a positive mood and there are hopes further progress can be made."

Talks broke down last month because of a dispute over the exact amount of legal fees the council is liable to pay the board following a public inquiry which resulted in the original scheme being rejected.
