The 14th August 1947 saw the last hours of British rule in India. At the stroke of midnight, the subcontinent gained its independence and modern India and Pakistan were born.

To mark this event BBC Video Nation has produced a series of short films following the British Asian experience in the UK, India and Pakistan. The films explore subjects including family life, culture, faith, history and youth, offering a personal perspective on the links between the UK and Asia in 2007.

How have British and Western influences affected the lives of the rich and the poor in India? Intimate stories from India.

Three British teenagers travel to Punjab to see how their families were affected by Partition and to explore their Hindu, Sikh and Muslim faiths.


TRAVELLERS' TALES
British Asians travel back to India and Pakistan to discover how the countries have changed and continue to have shape their lives.
