It's not just a game!Luton's Samantha Whale and Watford's Michael Barrett have taken the computer gaming world by storm by setting an official world record for an Xbox game. ![]() Samantha, who plays under the tag 'Ricochet' and team mate Michael aka 'Bazza' set a record for the highest score achieved by a team of two on the Halo 3, level Sierra 117, within five minutes – an amazing 2,048! If the record remains unbroken throughout the year, their names will feature in next year's Guinness World Records Gamers' Edition Book. ![]() 21-year-old Samantha, a former The Meads Primary and Lea Manor High School pupil, became one of the first professional female gamers in the UK after she secured a much-coveted spot in the Birmingham Salvo Team back in October. 18 year-old Michael, who is in his second year at Amersham and Wycombe College, studying 3-D animation and visual effects, first picked up a PlayStation when he was ten years old, and now eight years later is playing the Fifa football game in tournaments across the world for the Salvo Team. As a result, he receives a £15,000 annual salary and travels to tournaments across the globe. The Championship Gaming Series is based in Los Angeles, California, and is the only worldwide professional video gaming league, the Salvo Team came third in the recent world championships in LA, scooping a cash prize of $70,000 - about £35,000. ![]() We asked Samantha to put down her controllers for a while and visit the BBC Three Counties Radio Studios to tell us more!
