Children in Need Grants

Find out how your generous donations will be making a huge impact for projects in our area.

November 2008 saw £1,020,977 raised in the North East and Cumbria for BBC Children in Need.

With BBC Tees listeners raising over a whopping £163,000!

The following grants have been announced as the first series of grants to come from Children In Need in our area:

Families Talking awarded £63,555

This project will fund the salaries and related costs of three part-time children's counsellors to work with children affected by parental separation.

Families Talking offers one to one counselling sessions in Middlesbrough, Hartlepool, Redcar and Saltburn. They hope to extend this to other towns in our area.

Nightstop Teesside awarded £93,309

This project will provide safe accommodation for homeless young people living in the Redcar area of Cleveland.

Nightstop Teesside's Crash Pad Scheme will provide safe accommodation for young homeless people in the homes of trained volunteers for a period of up to two months. This period of time will enable the young people to remain in education or training whilst working with mediation, looking at the possibility of the young person returning home.

Women's Aid Eva awarded £102,047

This project will fund a children's counsellor to provide therapeutic counselling for children who have been affected by domestic violence.

The project will work with boys and girls between five and 17 years old and provide one to one psychotherapeutic counselling sessions with young people whose lives have been impacted by domestic abuse.
