Get into music with Amplifier

The Amplifier music project launched on Thursday 14th October at the Ipswich Corn Exchange. The project aims to give Suffolk’s young people training and opportunities in music and enable them to further a career in this area.

Amplifier’s mix of workshops and events offer young musicians (aged 11-25) the chance to learn about all aspects of modern music. Designed to accommodate a range of abilities, from striking your first chord to live production, recording a demo to getting signed or starting your own record label. But it’s not just for musicians and DJs. Amplifier aims to help anyone wanting a career in music industry; other workshops include Event Management, Music Technology, Rock Journalism, Marketing and Promotion & Health and Safety. Future workshops will include sessions on the music business aimed at anyone aged 11-25 who is interested in making their way into this area.

The project will deliver over 2000 workshops and live showcase events over three years, with seven main centres and twenty-one satellite venues in smaller towns and villages, there’s sure to be something near you.

Workshop information:

Baseline Assessment:
A chance for our tutors to assess your standard, whatever you play or would like to play, and find out what your aims are.

Intro to Music:
This session could include anything from how to hold a guitar, individual sessions, through having a tutor listen to your band.

Music Workshop:
General workshop for all instruments.

Song Writing:
Would you like advice on how to write your first tune? Or a second pair of ears to listen to something you’ve already written?

Intro to DJing:
For beginners, or to brush up skills, build confidence & move out of the bedroom!

Health & Safety:
Everyone should know how to work safely around heavy & electrical equipment.

Sessions

Sessions run from 6.30 – 8.30pm.
They cost £3 with £1 concessions.
You can book for single sessions or the whole term.
You can turn up on the day but it is strongly advised to book in advance via
