Coming home

When she became ill, Maggie Carter moved home to be closer to her family. Now she’s helping members of a Residents’ Association in Meir, Stoke-on-Trent, have a say in the area’s future…

Do you class your home as where you live now or where you grew up? If you feel it's where you grew up, what would it take for you to move back there?

For 46 year old Maggie Carter, it was when she found out she had the chronic condition Multiple Sclerosis. She decided to move back to her family and her true home in Meir, Stoke-on-Trent.

But with her parent's neighbourhood facing big changes with a regeneration project, Maggie was worried about her family's future. With the help and support of the local Resident's Association, Maggie's now putting her energy into shaping what'll happen to her home....
