Raducanu is on track for the worst Grand Slam defeat of her career.

Another game on the board will avoid that ignominy.

The Brit has been handed a bagel at a major once before - when she won only one game in a humiliation by world number two Iga Swiatek at the Australian Open last year.

Emma Raducanu does the hard yards as she covers the ground but can't add the finishing touch with a forehand at the net.

Solana Sierra just keeps chipping away and reaches another break point - but a timely first serve keeps Raducanu involved at deuce.

Raducanu looks downbeat, in her shell. She's not bringing any personality onto this court. She looks shackled, I would say.

No getting that! Solana Sierra hits a brutal forehand out of reach to consolidate her advantage in this second set, and the talented 21-year-old Argentine appears to be well on her way to the French Open second round now.

Nipped across the way to see Francesca Jones wrap up one of the best wins of her career.

Tears are flowing for the 25-year-old, whose story continues to inspire. And the rapturous reception also brings a lump to the throat.

The doctors who told Jones she would never play professionally continue to be proved completely wrong.

Jones shares an emotional hug with her parents, who she spoke about again the other day and demonstrated being eternally grateful for their continued backing.

They sacrificed a lot to fund her move to Barcelona as a youngster, which is where she learnt to be so adept on clay.

How well Jones played to earn that win. She looks very overcome by what's happened out here. You have to admire her. Everything she's been through.

Two hours and 40 minutes, battling through the heat.

    I admire her character.

Her hands go over her face, Fran Jones. What a fightback! I think there are tears in her eyes. Look at what that means.

She's being embraced now by Haddad Maia, a really warm embrace.

This is a huge moment for Fran Jones.

Here's a bit more reaction to that huge victory for Francesca Jones over Brazil's Beatriz Haddad Maia moments ago...

This continues to be a real drag for Raducanu.

Despite, the Brit-heavy crowd cajoling her, she does not have enough belief that she can turn this match around.

Not seen much interaction with new (old) coach Andrew Richardson, either.

  11. Sierra breaks in second setpublished at 17:31 BST

    Raducanu 0-6 1-2 Sierra*

There is the breakthrough for Solana Sierra and, for all of Emma Raducanu's positive steps at the start of the second set, the British number one is really up against it now.

That was one of Raducanu's better forehands, and it was in an extended rally.

But she's walked extremely slowly back to the corner as if it took a lot out of her physically.

Shot! Emma Raducanu finds the corner with a perfect forehand as she battles back to deuce.

The British number one continues to suffer from her inconsistency, but Solana Sierra is unable to take a third break point.

  14. 'She's mentally pressuring her'published at 17:27 BST

    *Raducanu 0-6 1-1 Sierra

    Annabel Croft
Former British number one on BBC Radio 5 Live

The interesting thing about these double faults, Sierra is standing further inside the baseline than anyone I've seen against the Raducanu serve.

She's really mentally pressuring her. If you look at her stance, she's getting into Raducanu's head. Three of those double faults have come when she's been well inside the baseline.

  15. Break points Sierrapublished at 17:27 BST

    *Raducanu 0-6 1-1 Sierra

Emma Raducanu goes from a double fault to an ace - and back again.

What a messy game this is, and it leaves her facing two break points after what had been a positive start to set two.

Francesca Jones has done it! She's the first Briton through to the second round at the 2026 French Open.

The 25-year-old fights back from a set and a break down to beat Brazil's Beatriz Haddad Maia, a former top 10 player, 1-6 7-6 (7-4) 6-2.

That was Jones' first-ever match at Roland Garros and she's passed the test with flying colours. It's also her first win in the main draw of a Grand Slam.

Marie Bouzkova awaits in the next round.

    Raducanu 0-6 1-0 Sierra*

A superb drop shot from Solana Sierra, after pinning Emma Raducanu to the back of the court, helps her take charge of her opening service game in set two.

There have been much more positive signs from Raducanu since the end of that first set, though, and the Briton continues to build a bit of momentum by reaching deuce.
