Cardiff Devils will have home advantage in the play-off quarter-finals

Cardiff Devils face a shoot-out for second place in the Elite League against Nottingham Panthers after a win against Coventry Blaze.

Cardiff enjoyed a 2-1 victory at Vindico Arena while Nottingham beat Manchester Storm 4-3.

It means that Devils have a one-point lead over Panthers going into the Sunday fixture in the East Midlands (16:00 BST), with Sheffield Steelers a point further back and able to overhaul Nottingham.

The reward for finishing second is the chance to avoid already-crowned league champions Belfast Giants until the play-off final.

Devils travel to Nottingham buoyed by their success against seventh-placed Blaze, who host Belfast on Sunday (17:30 BST) in their last home game of the regular season.

Nolan Yaremko put Cardiff 1-0 up only for Jordan Power to level in the first period but a power-play goal by Josh MacDonald in the second period proved to be the home side's winner.
