Villa defender Feeney joins Peterborough on loan

Peterborough United have brought in Aston Villa central defender Josh Feeney on a season-long loan.

Feeney came through the youth ranks at Fleetwood before joining Villa in 2021, but although he has played eight times at under-21 level, he has yet to make a senior appearance for the Premier League club.

The 21-year-old former England youth international is set for a third successive season in League One following 31 appearances in all competitions for Huddersfield Town last season, and 39 with Shrewsbury in 2024-25.

"I have played a decent number of games in the EFL now," Feeney told the Posh website., external

"When I first went out on loan, it did take a little while to adjust to the physicality because it is a lot different to under-21 football, but I feel I am used to it now and I am looking forward to helping the group win matches and move up the table."

Peterborough manager Luke Williams added: "Josh is a player that has already got plenty of EFL experience under his belt and we believe he will give us additional strength in our defensive options.

"He is a good size, likes defending, but also has that ability to play and as a management team, we are looking forward to working with him."
