When could Wolves be relegated?

Wolverhampton Wanderers could be relegated from the Premier League on Monday, 20 April.

Rob Edwards' side are bottom of the table having picked up just 17 points from 33 matches, leaving Wolves 15 points from safety with just five games to go.

Wolves can only reach a maximum of 32 points this season and that would require them winning each of their final five matches.

After a 3-0 loss to Leeds United at Elland Road on Saturday, as well as a victory for Nottingham Forest against fellow strugglers Burnley, Wolves can only catch three teams mathematically.

However, with 17th-placed West Ham on 32 points, the Hammers need just a single point to confirm Wolves' relegation.

The Hammers play London rivals Crystal Palace on Monday night, when a win or draw for Nuno Espirito Santo's side would confirm a return to the Championship for Wolves.

Should Palace get the win, Wolves will remain in the division mathematically until at least Saturday, 25 April, when they face Tottenham Hotspur at home while West Ham host Everton.

If West Ham avoid defeat or Edwards' side fail to win this weekend, Wolves will be relegated.

Wolves have already avoided becoming the team to be relegated earliest from the top flight and have also bettered the Premier League's record lowest points tally.

Derby County hold both records after Paul Jewell's side were relegated on 29 March 2008 - earning just 11 points in the process.

Southampton suffered the earliest Premier League relegation in terms of the number of games played in 2024-25. Ivan Juric's side went down with seven games still to play and finished on a meagre 12 points.
