Chesterfield midfielder Armando Dobra is a doubt to face Notts County in the return leg of their League Two play-off semi-final.
Dobra, who has made 33 league appearances this season, was forced off with a shoulder injury in the 39th minute of the first leg at the SMH Group Stadium on Sunday.
The Spireites will need to overturn a 1-0 deficit in Friday's second leg at Meadow Lane if they want to avoid semi-final elimination for the second season running.
"It's not great," assistant manager Danny Webb told BBC Radio Sheffield. "He's had to go to hospital for an X-ray and a scan on it, so I think the AC joint has got some damage in there.
"Dobs being Dobs he wanted to carry on and got the hump when he came off, but he was in a lot of pain and the change had to be made."
Webb said he was a serious doubt for Friday's trip to Nottingham.
"Sometimes he's like Superman and he might bounce back," he said. "But things can go all your way in games and things can go completely against you in games and today we had a little mix of both."
Chesterfield, who have suffered play-off defeat by Notts twice in the past six years, could not find an equaliser during an intense spell of second-half pressure.
But Webb emphasised his side were in better shape than at this stage last season when the Spireites lost the first leg 2-0 at home to Walsall.
He said it "would have been a real sickener" if County had got a second goal at the end "and then we would have been exactly where we were last year and you're having an uphill battle going there".
He added: "We'd love to have drawn but I think our supporters can be full of hope and optimism going to the game on Friday night."
