The Tigers are back in the top tier after nine years away and they have embarked on some hefty squad renewal to help manager Sergej Jakirovic.
Will it be enough? It will certainly defy the odds and expectations, but I feel it might just be a very entertaining ride as Hull City try.
They have completed 11 new signings so far and have broken their own transfer record twice in the process by bringing in Greece goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis from Olympiacos and Senegal defender Nobel Mendy from Rayo Vallecano.
Once again, no one can accuse Hull City of accepting what many regard as inevitable.
And why should they?
