World Cup winner Paul Pogba is expected to leave Monaco amid talks over a possible contract termination.
The former France midfielder joined Ligue 1 Monaco last summer after he was permitted to return to professional football following a doping suspension he was given while at Juventus.
The 33-year-old signed a two-year deal, which was due to run until the end of the forthcoming season.
But a source has told the BBC discussions over an early exit are under way and are expected to be concluded soon.
BBC Sport understands Pogba is attracting interest from Major League Soccer (MLS). He has previously been linked to DC United and Inter Miami.
However, Pogba sustained a hamstring injury at Monaco's pre-season training camp in England earlier this week, which could delay his anticipated switch to MLS.
Monaco have not yet commented.
Pogba's first season at Monaco was disrupted by injury but there was hope he would feature more this season.
But a change in manager, after Filipe Luis replaced Sebastien Pocognoli, could mean Monaco head in a different direction in central midfield.
Pogba was provisionally banned from football for four years after a positive test for dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) in February 2024, following a doping test in August 2023.
Pogba maintained it was a mistake and that he was given a supplement without knowing it contained a banned substance.
He was permitted to return to football in March 2025 following the Court of Arbitration for Sport's decision to reduce his ban to 18 months.
Pogba began his senior career with Manchester United before moving to Juventus in 2012.
He returned to Old Trafford for a world-record £89m in 2016, returning to Juve six years later.
