Argyle boss Cleverley unhappy with refereeing calls

Plymouth Argyle head coach Tom Cleverley says he may discuss decisions which have gone against his side with the refereeing authorities.

The Pilgrims were 3-2 winners at Doncaster Rovers in League One on Saturday.

But Cleverley was annoyed that Bim Pepple had a goal ruled out for offside and that a controversial penalty was given against Matty Sorinola in the second half.

"I think it could be time for a call with the referees," Cleverley told BBC Radio Devon.

"It's too many now. Too many game-affecting decisions that are just going against us.

"I can't comment on today's, but pre-today, the goal at Wycombe disallowed, it impacts the result, a goal disallowed against Stockport on the first day, it's too much.

"I'm not focusing on that today but I'm not pleased."

Cleverley says he was impressed by the attitude his players showed at Doncaster.

Pepple and Caleb Watts scored in the final 16 minutes after Alfie May's penalty had cancelled out Will Evans' opener.

Doncaster got a stoppage-time consolation goal but Argyle earned a second win of the season that moved them a point off the play-off places in a congested table after five games.

"They deserve a lot of credit today," he said.

"So the controllables - the work rate, the being there for each other - were all there and then that gets even more difficult when a home team equalises early in the second half.

"The mentality was excellent today, that along with the substitutes certainly, sees us leave with three points."
