Bradford City boss Michael Duff says the West Yorkshire derby with Huddersfield Town is "not about me".

The fourth-placed Bantams welcome the League One leaders on Saturday (12:30 GMT).

Duff, who took over at Valley Parade earlier this month, spent 10 months in charge of Huddersfield before being sacked in March 2025.

"I enjoyed the year I was there, not quite a year; I've got nothing bad to say. But this weekend is not about me," he told BBC Radio Leeds.

"It's two historic clubs with over 100 years of history, two big clubs. Two [sets of] supporters going at it, two sets of players going at it and hopefully a ding-dong football match.

"I want Bradford City to win because I'm now at Bradford City, and it's my job, but I've got no ill-feeling.

"Lots of things happen in football for a reason. Everyone has got a story, and nobody is interested."

Bradford will face Manchester City in the Carabao Cup quarter finals after beating Peterborough 2-0 on Tuesday and are yet to concede a goal in Duff's six matches in charge.

Nobody in the EFL has conceded fewer than their five goals in 12 league games, although their 10 scored is more than just bottom side Wigan and AFC Wimbledon, who have both scored eight times.

Duff said it was important his team "don't play the occasion".

"You want the balance of ice and fire," Duff added.

"If we start coming off what we're good at, then the game will become a mess, and I'm sure Martin (Drury) will be saying the same to his team: don't play the occasion; play the game.

"It's three points ultimately. It's no more valuable to last week, so we will do everything to win, but it is not the be-all and end-all.

"We want to win, and it's more so these types of games that you want to win for the supporters more than ourselves. It means more to the supporters, and it probably is worth more than three points to them."

Terriers will not be fazed - Drury

Valley Parade is expected to be sold out for what will be just the third league meeting between these two sides since March 2007.

Huddersfield have won four and drawn one of their past five league games to climb to the top of the table and boss Martin Drury has said his side "will not be fazed" by the size of the game.

"It would be naive to think we can go there and be calm, that's not the kind of game it will be. It'll be a competitive game," he told BBC Radio Leeds.

"Our players are excited and they are not fazed by tomorrow.

"The moment I threw some stats and data at them to say 'these are the best at this, this and this' they started to sit up in their chairs and say 'ok'. They look ready."

I've been getting stick all week - Pointon

Pointon: 'My Town friends have been giving me stick all week'

Bradford-born City midfielder Bobby Pointon scored twice for the Bantams in their 3-1 home win over Town last season.

The 22-year-old, who went to watch the Bantams' youth team win at Huddersfield in the FA Youth Cup on Wednesday, has bragging rights in mind.

"A few of my mates are Town fans, so I've been getting a bit of stick all week, so hopefully I can turn it around on the weekend," he told BBC Radio Leeds.

"We all met up after the game and had a drink together [after last year's game], and it was a funny night.

"They want me to not play well, and I want to play well... fingers crossed it is the same outcome."

Pointon worked under Town boss Drury when he was coaching Bradford's youth team.

He credited the 40-year-old with having a "massive part" in his development.

"He's been a big part in my career," Pointon added.

"He's done really well for himself. When I had him in the youth team, I knew how good he was and how far he could go.

"I want him to do well, and he was good with me. He got me ready for men's football, and he was a massive part of how well I came into the first team."
