Ipswich Town Women midfielder Sophie Peskett has left to join Women's Super League side Brighton & Hove Albion for a club record fee.

Peskett became the Tractor Girls' first professional when she signed a two-year deal in 2021.

Since her debut in 2019, the 23-year-old made 127 appearances for Ipswich, helping them two promotions up to WSL2.

Peskett is the second big departure from the club since the end of last season, with Jamaica international Natasha Thomas, who spent more than a decade at Ipswich before leaving in May, joined Wrexham on Friday.

"I know the 16-year-old girl walking into the club for the first time would be proud of everything she's achieved, from being made the first professional female player at the club, to the special FA Cup runs and, of course, promotion to WSL2," Peskett said on Instagram, external.

"As one chapter closes, it opens up a new opportunity and I am really excited for what is next for me."
