Guernsey FC's unbeaten start in the league came to a bruising end as they were beaten 5-1 at Lingfield.
The Southern Combination Premier Division side crumbled not long after they had a goal disallowed, with Lingfield's Yusuf McGregor scoring a tidy brace, and Kwesi Ntim slotting home before the half-time whistle.
The Green Lions made four changes but an excellent free-kick from Kristian Belousas killed off hopes of a comeback, before Rewan Alyasi scored a 90th-minute penalty to complete the rout.
Tony Vance's side pulled one back in injury time after Brandon Wallace finished off a neat passing movement, but by then it felt like less than a consolation.
The result in Surrey leaves Guernsey fifth in the division, and five points behind leaders Eastbourne United.
Guernsey welcome Eastbourne to the island on Saturday at 13:30 BST.
