Lincoln City centre-back MJ Kamson-Kamara has agreed a deal to join Hearts as the futures of influential midfielder Cammy Devlin and veteran Scotland goalkeeper Craig Gordon at Tynecastle remain unclear.
The Scottish Premiership club on Wednesday confirmed the departures of four players, including midfielder Beni Baningime and defender Frankie Kent.
However, Devlin and Gordon were not on the list of those exiting the Scottish Premiership runners-up despite also being out of contract this summer.
Devlin is currently at Australia's World Cup training camp in Florida, while Gordon has joined up with the Scotland squad for the finals.
Hearts are waiting on an answer after offering Devlin a new contract, with the 27-year-old having been linked with a move, external to Major League Soccer or England.
Gordon, 43, could potentially end his career after the World Cup at the end of a season when he featuring only three times for Hearts.
Hearts have, meanwhile, announced that 20-year-old Kamson-Kamara has agreed a four-year contract once his current deal with Championship club Lincoln expires.
The London-born defender had been offered a new deal after spending last season on loan at Glentoran in Northern Ireland's Premiership, as they finished third and were runners-up in the League Cup.
Described by Hearts as "a tall and agile defender", he previously had loan spells with English lower league sides Barwell and Peterborough Sports.
Kamson-Kamara becomes the third player to sign a pre-contract agreement to join Hearts along with St Johnstone forward Josh McPake and Versailles midfielder Tom Renaud.
On Tuesday, Hearts captain Lawrence Shankland left for Rangers and he will be followed out of Tynecastle by Baningime, Kent, defender Lewis Neilson and winger Alan Forrest.
Baningime moved to Edinburgh from Everton in 2021, with the 27-year-old midfielder making 127 appearances and starting 20 league games this term.
The 30-year-old Kent played in 95 games and scored four goals after joining from Colchester United in 2023.
Former Livingston 29-year-old Forrest arrived at the same time and has scored 14 goals in 147 outings.
Neilson spent this season on loan at Falkirk, the 23-year-old having also had temporary spells at St Johnstone and Partick Thistle after his switch from Dundee United in 2022.
