Juventus agree to sign Woltemade on loan from Newcastle

Juventus have agreed a season-long loan deal for Newcastle United forward Nick Woltemade.

The Italian side had been one of a number of clubs from the continent interested in signing the 24-year-old before Tuesday's deadline.

Woltemade - brought to Newcastle from Stuttgart in August 2025 - is now set to travel to Turin for a medical after a £3.5m deal was struck. It does not include an option to make it permanent.

Although Woltemade came off the bench to set up Yoane Wissa's goal in Newcastle's 2-0 win at Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, the club's £69m record signing has only started one of new manager Matthias Jaissle's first three games to date.

Juventus had been in the market for a forward as Jonathan David looks set to join Atletico Madrid on loan.

They had also been talking to Manchester United striker Joshua Zirkzee, whose proposed move to Fiorentina was not completed.

However, Juventus feel Woltemade is a better fit and, crucially, is also cheaper. In addition, the loan agreement does not include the obligation-to-buy clause Manchester United wanted with Zirkzee.

BBC Sport previously reported that Newcastle's move for Lille forward Matias Fernandez-Pardo could pave the way for Woltemade to join the Serie A side.

Fernandez-Pardo flew into Tyneside on Monday evening to finalise a move worth up to £55m.
