Former Swansea City, Wrexham and Bristol City forward Lee Trundle has sealed a move to Cwmbran Town.

The 49-year-old - who turns 50 in October - enjoyed a successful career in the English Football League but has spent more than a decade in grassroots football since leaving Preston North End in 2013.

And the veteran forward - who is currently a club ambassador for Championship side Swansea - has opted to prolong his playing career by completing a move to Cwmbran Town.

"I'm delighted to be joining Cwmbran Town. It's a club with a proud history, passionate people and real ambition for the future," Trundle said.

"I've had some fantastic conversations with those involved and I can see what they're trying to build.

"If I can help the players, help the younger generation coming through and play my part in helping Cwmbran move back towards where a club of this size belongs, then that's something I'm excited to be part of."

The Crows finished second in the Ardal South East League - the third tier of Welsh domestic football - last season.

Club chairman Dan O'Connell said: "This is a huge moment for Cwmbran Town. Lee isn't just an outstanding footballer, he's a role model and an ambassador for the game.

"The impact he can have on our younger players, our supporters and the wider club is enormous."

Liverpool-born Trundle most recently played for Pure Swansea but has had spells with Trefelin BGC, Mumbles Rangers, Ammanford, Haverfordwest County, Llanelli Town, Marine and Chester since leaving Preston 13 years ago.

Cwmbran Town first team boss Brandon Simpson added: "Lee brings huge experience, real quality, and has been there and done it across the game.

"He'll be a huge boost for the squad and the club as a whole."
