Sheffield United sign Choudhury from Leicester

Sheffield United have signed Leicester City midfielder Hamza Choudhury for an undisclosed fee, on a one-year deal.

Choudhury, 28, spent the second half of the 2024-25 season on loan with the Blades, making 16 league appearances, including the Championship play-off final defeat by Sunderland.

The Bangladesh international came through the Foxes academy and made 166 appearances in 11 seasons for the club, including three this season.

He was part of the Leicester squad which won the 2015-16 Premier League title and also played in their FA Cup final victory over Chelsea in 2021.

"I spoke after the game against Cardiff about how we needed to strengthen, and with one or two injuries that we currently have, it was imperative that we improved competition at right back," Blades boss Chris Wilder told the club website, external.

"We all know that Hamza can do that role and so much more.

"During the last 10 games of his first spell here, he was arguably our best player, which included the play-off semi-finals and final."

Choudhury also played under Wilder during his loan spell at Watford during the 2022-23 season.

"I've worked with the manager for a short period at Watford and then obviously the last spell I had here, and we've always kept in touch," said Choudhury. "I really love playing under him.

"It's a big change for me. I've been at Leicester for 20 years now, so it's a change for me and my family, but one I'm really looking forward to and hopefully we can have a big season here."
