Lauren Hemp was named as England's Young Player of the Year in 2017
Lauren Hemp's brace was enough to give Bristol City Women their second league win of the season, despite a late fightback from visitors Everton Ladies.
Hemp's first-time finish in to the top corner put City ahead, before Courtney Sweetman-Kirk hit the post for Everton.
England Under-19 forward Hemp then doubled the hosts' lead from the penalty spot after the break.
The Toffees pulled one back through Georgia Brougham's bundled finish, but they could not find a late equaliser.
Victory was Bristol City's second in six league games so far this term and lifted them above Everton in the Women's Super League One table.
Bristol City defender Jasmine Matthews:
"Lauren [Hemp] is just outstanding. She is only 17 but she has so much ability. I've not seen a player like her.
"We are chuffed to bits with the win. We knew it would be a tough match but I thought we managed the game well.
"Even though Everton came out of their shells and came at us when they got back to 2-1, we kept our calm, held firm and won. I thought we deserved the three points."
Everton midfielder Megan Finnigan:
"It was really disappointing considering how well we had started in the first half of the season - I don't think we deserved to get the three points.
"We started the game too slowly - normally we try and get on the front foot - and there were times when we could have played but didn't do it. I think we gave Bristol City too much respect.
"There was a strong wind and the pitch was slippy, but you have to be able to play around that - and we didn't do it."
