New Zealand have dropped 11 catches in this series so far, while England have dropped 13, making it 24 drops in total.

That is the second-most dropped catches in a three-match Test series in England since 2006.

England resumed today on 223-2, with Jacob Bethell on 74 and Joe Root on 21.

Things soon went wrong for the home side, losing both set batters and Jamie Smith for just 11 runs inside six overs - you can see their wickets below.

They ultimate lost their last eight wickets for 130 runs.

  4. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 88.2 overs

Tongue c Santner b Foulkes 2 (Eng 354 all out)

    And that's the innings.

Zak Foulkes wraps it up, forcing Josh Tongue to fence a looping shot to Mitchell Santner at mid-wicket.

A very strong effort from Foulkes, who finishes with 3-35 after being introduced as a concussion sub early in this innings.

England head to the pavilion trailing by 84 runs - the teams will take an early tea.

  5. Eng 354-9published at 88 overs

Shoaib Bashir survives the last three balls of Will O'Rourke's over.

A wicket maiden for O'Rourke, his sixth scoreless over from 20 - he has figures of 3-53.

  6. wicket

    Atkinson c Mitchell b O'Rourke 23 (Eng 354-9)

    Edged... taken this time.

Will O'Rourke raps the glove of Gus Atkinson and then removes the England number eight with his following delivery, with Daryl Mitchell taking the catch at first slip.

Atkinson's 86-ball innings comes to an end and out comes last man Shoaib Bashir with England still trailing by 84.

Nathan Smith only gets three overs with the new ball, with Zak Foulkes coming on to replace him.

A couple of runs off his first effort.

  8. Eng 352-8published at 86 overs

    Trail by 86

Leading edge from Gus Atkinson... loops safely over Will O'Rourke in his follow-through and plugs safely some way in front of mid-off.

Prior to that, Josh Tongue inside-edged a single behind square to get off the mark.

    Jim CumbesImage source, Getty Images

Jim Cumbes was a bowler for Worcestershire and goalie for Aston Villa, in the 1960s/1970s I believe.

    Robert, Margate

The only man to have captained England at both cricket and football was RE 'Tip' Foster, one of seven brothers who played top level sport. Worcestershire often had five Foster brothers in the field - laughingly the county was nicknamed Fostershire! Died young from diabetes in 1914.

    Jon, Ayres

Back when amateur rugby league was played in the winter, Chris Silverwood (Castleford Tigers fan) would turn out for Kippax in Leeds during the cricket off-season.

    Matthew, St Helens

  10. Eng 350-8published at 85 overs

Josh Tongue sees out the remainder of Nathan Smith's over.

Jofra Archer's wicket was Smith's fourth, he's in the hunt for his third Test five-fer.

  11. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 84.3 overs

    Archer c Mitchell b Smith 15 (Eng 350-8)

    Ooof, brutal delivery.

Nathan Smith's ball flies up off a length and takes the glove of Jofra Archer.

The ball flies to Daryl Mitchell who takes the catch in the cordon.

Disappointing for Archer, who sees a partnership of 28 come to an end, but he'll take heart from the pitch doing that.

  12. Eng 348-7published at 84 overs

A maiden for Will O'Rourke, his fifth of the innings.

He won't take much consolation from that right now though.

New Zealand's catching hasn't been that good this series. That was an extraordinary drop. It was like an U12 players drop.

  15. dropped catch

Atkinson dropped on 22published at 83.3 overs

    Eng 348-7

Now, that one really should have been taken.

Gus Atkinson awkwardly blocks out a Will O'Rourke yorker, it loops gently straight to Ben Sears at short mid-wicket who... completely mucks up the catch.

No run taken - Atkinson survives on 22.

Of the 47 wickets New Zealand have taken in this series, only one has come with the second new ball. They have bowled just six overs with the second new ball, compared to England's 56 overs, in which they have taken 14 wickets.

  17. Eng 348-7published at 83 overs

Five dot balls from Nathan Smith then Gus Atkinson sends a single through point.

This partnership is now worth 26.

Re cricketing sportsman and vice versa. Geoff Hurst played a first-class game for Essex in 1962 and even Gary Lineker once turned out for MCC, against Germany of all teams. He scored a solitary run and said after: "I always score one against Germany".

Re cricketers playI'm from Scunthorpe and saw all Beefy's appearances at the Old Show Ground. He wasn't a bad player and could look after himself. His best game for us was a famous victory over Leeds Utd in the F.A. Cup in the mid 1980's

  19. dropped catch

Archer dropped on 13published at 82 overs

    Eng 347-7

    Put down.

Will O'Rourke unsurprisingly returns to bowl with the new ball and Jofra Archer drives his penultimate delivery back down the pitch.

It's not moving especially quickly, but O'Rourke can't hold on.

Another dot ball ends the over, and on come the drinks.

  20. Eng 345-7published at 81 overs

Jofra Archer takes two off the second delivery with the new ball, hurrying through a two to point.

Nathan Smith then fires a ball past the edge of Gus Atkinson's bat, with the number eight just about managing to stay inside the line.
