Bouchier stars as Hampshire, Durham and Essex win

England batter Maia Bouchier struck a career-best 143 as Hampshire bounced back from Saturday's One-Day Cup loss at Lancashire by beating Somerset by five wickets.

The 27-year-old's century ensured that her side cut The Blaze's lead at the top of the table to four points, with both teams having played six games.

Elsewhere, Mady Villiers also hit a century after taking three wickets with the ball as Durham picked up their second win of the season at Warwickshire.

And Essex moved up to sixth in the table as they eased to a comfortable five-wicket win over Lancashire at Chelmsford.

At the Utilita Bowl, Bouchier's personal best trumped an exquisite 133 from Somerset's Bex Odgers in Hampshire's five-wicket win.

Odgers' first professional ton tied with an unbroken 150 run partnership with Chole Skelton (77) – the highest seventh-wicket partnership in this country in women's List A cricket and the fourth largest of all time for the seventh wicket in this format – had given Hampshire a tricky 282 to chase.

But Bouchier and international team-mate Freya Kemp hammered the bowling in a captivating 149-run partnership for the third wicket in front of England head coach Charlotte Edwards, as Hampshire strode to a fourth win in six.

Bouchier only fell when Somerset captain for the day, Niamh Holland pulled off a great catch at long on, but it did not stop Rhianna Southby, Naomi Dattani and Megan Sturge from ticking off the remaining 26 runs with more than nine overs to spare.

A brilliant all-round display by Mady Villiers lifted Durham to a five-wicket victory over Warwickshire at Edgbaston.

Warwickshire totalled an imposing 289-6 thanks to Davina Perrina (69 from 105 balls), Charis Pavely (55 off 59) and Nat Wraith (54 off 35).

Villiers led the bowling attack with 3-38 - and then unfurled a glorious first century for Durham with the bat.

The 27-year-old struck 106 from 86 balls to underpin Durham's progress to 290-5 with 25 balls to spare.

Villiers laid a spectacular victory foundation on which Emily Windsor built skilfully to see her side home with an unbeaten 85.

Grace Scrivens and Cordelia Griffith continued Essex's resurgence with a county record One-Day Cup stand of 128 from 153 balls to overcome holders Lancashire and secure a third straight win in the competition.

Skipper Scrivens (74 from 83) and Griffith (61 from 90) bettered their opening partnership of 95 against Yorkshire last time out with another vital contribution to lay the foundations for a resounding victory.

Lancashire needed a century partnership of their own to recover from a sluggish start, with opener Eve Jones (98 from 135) and skipper Ellie Threlkeld (51 from 69) adding 127 for the fourth wicket.

That enabled them to post 251-7, with Sophie Munro and Scrivens taking two wickets apiece, but it was not enough and the in-form Jodi Grewcock hit 58 from 57 as Essex cruised home with three overs to spare.
