Leicestershire have signed Warwickshire fast bowler Nathan Gilchrist on a two-game County Championship loan.

The 26-year-old has been brought in as injury cover and is available for the Foxes' next two Division One matches against Somerset - which starts on Tuesday - and then bottom side Hampshire.

However, Gilchrist will not be eligible to play in Leicestershire's One Day Cup final clash with Middlesex, at Trent Bridge, on Sunday, 20 September.

The right-arm quick joined Warwickshire ahead of the 2026 season following five years with Kent and also represented England Lions last winter.

Gilchrist's most recent first-class appearance came against Somerset in June, but he also played in the Bears' One Day Cup campaign.

"It's a great opportunity for me to get some Championship cricket under my belt, and hopefully I can come in, contribute to the team and help the lads finish the season strongly," Gilchrist told the club website.

Leicestershire are second-bottom of Division One but are just seven points from safety with three matches to play.

"He's a high-quality fast bowler who has already shown what he can do at first-class level, and his involvement with England Lions speaks to the quality he possesses," added Leicestershire director of cricket Claude Henderson.
