Seamer Henry Brookes has cut short his loan spell with Gloucestershire and returned to Middlesex after suffering a hamstring injury.
The 26-year-old initially signed on a short-term deal for five games but suffered an injury while bowling in Gloucestershire's 10-wicket win over Derbyshire in Division Two last time out.
Brookes had played twice this season but will now be unavailable for the County Championship fixtures at home to Kent and Northamptonshire, instead returning to his parent club for rehabilitation.
He took one wicket in a defeat by Lancashire and also hit a career-best 89 from number nine in the first innings at Derby to help Gloucestershire to their first red-ball victory there since 2019.
The club said on its website, external: "Everyone at Gloucestershire extends their thanks to Henry for his efforts and commitment during his spell with the club, and wishes him a full and speedy recovery."
