Kilmarnock have signed former Dundee United goalkeeper Dave Richards on a deal until January.

The 32-year-old Welshman had been without a club since ending a two-year stay at Tannadice - where he made 22 appearances - in the summer.

Richards, who previously had a spell on loan at St Johnstone, bolsters Kilmarnock's options with first-choice keeper Max Stryjek reportedly facing a lengthy lay-off because of a knee injury.

Understudy Calum Ferrie, a summer arrival from Queen's Park, made his Premiership debut in Killie's 1-1 draw with Hearts in the final game before the international break.
