Israeli election reaches stalemate

Weekend

Available for 29 days

Israel's election results so far show Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's Likud party has 53 seats, while the main opposition "Change" bloc led by Gadi Eisenkot has 48 seats. Since both parties are short of the 61 seats needed to reach a majority, there could be a possibility of them forming a governing coalition. Also in the programme: French football star, Kylian Mbappé, apologises after huge controversy over comments he made online regarding a meme comparing him to dictators, specifically China's first Communist leader Mao Zedong; and we hear from a female politician on the distressing experience happening to more women online, the circulation of deepfake nude images that are digitally altered to remove clothing. Presenter Julian Worricker is joined by Anneka Rice, a UK-based broadcaster, author, and campaigner, and Osman Samiuddin, a London-based journalist, author and senior editor at the CricInfo website.
