US hails Venezuela oil deal

The United States and Venezuela have welcomed a big energy deal which they've formally signed in Caracas, along with a series of agreements involving international oil firms. Critics say the deal hands Washington control of a fifth of Venezuela’s oil reserves, which are the world's largest, and entrenches the current authoritarian government. In Finland more than 2000 people are taking part in an exercise to simulate an emergency response to the outbreak of war centred around a shelter built into the side of a mountain. In Britain King Charles has hailed the "unprecedented" loan of the Bayeux Tapestry to the British Museum, calling it the "best possible symbol" of the close relationship between the UK and France. He was given a private viewing of the medieval artwork alongside the Queen, the French president, Emmanuel Macron, and Prime Minister Andy Burnham.
