In Afghanistan the ultra-conservative Taliban rulers have significantly restricted women's lives since re-taking power in 2021. This includes secondary education for girls. Romania has been forced to completely shutdown its only nuclear power station, at Cernavoda because of extremely low water levels in the Danube river. It’s the latest example of how the current drought in eastern Europe is playing havoc with energy, as well as water supplies. And Israel's defence minister, Israel Katz, has said the government is unequivocally opposed to violence after Israeli settlers imposed a blockade on two Palestinian families in the occupied West Bank.
