Care agency to close after 40 years

Tammy Gooding

Available for over a year

Crossroads Caring for Carers in Worcester is closing, chairman Graham Hughes joins Tammy Gooding to explain how they simply can't afford to stay open any more. The charity's origins trace back to a 1973 episode of Crossroads and a storyline in which Meg Richardson's son, Sandy, was left paralysed after a car crash. The storyline followed Meg as she became his carer and eventually set up a fictional "Caring for Carers" scheme. That eventually became a real life scheme across the country and Crossroads Caring for Carers in Worcestershire was born out of it.
