From Rachael Blackmore to Hollie Doyle, Gina Mangan follows in a long line of trailblazing female jockeys. No fan of school, and with the backing of her parents, Irish would-be jockey Gina Mangan embarked on an education system of a different kind by spending 10 months and Ireland's Racing School. This proved a very good decision as Gina has since ridden more than 150 winners and has enjoyed a good career on the flat. Speaking to Trevor Owens and Oliver Boyden from a blustery Ffos Las, she reflects on an early setback when she was refused permission to ride in the 2017 Derby, but has since gone on to enjoy a number of notable successes.
