Canadian-Somalian model Sabrina Dhowre, in her role as goodwill ambassador for the UN’s International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), has visited farmers in Kenya and Somalia to draw attention to the increasing threats to the livelihoods of rural communities. She is part of an IFAD delegation and their launch of the Crisis Response Initiative, aimed at protecting small-scale farmers at risk of food shortages because of worsening drought and the impact of the war in Ukraine. Ms Dhowre spoke to Focus on Africa's Hassan Arouni about what she had seen on the trip and the resilience of farmers, but said "it's an undeniable truth that people are suffering."
