As well as the students and citizens leaving Ukraine, diplomatic missions have been steadily reducing their presence in the country over the past few weeks. Until now, South Africa's ambassador to the country, Andre Groenewald, has remained there with a small team. But he has now been advised to the leave the country and temporarily close the embassy. While in a convoy on the road out, he spoke to BBC Africa's Bara'atu Ibrahim about the decision to leave, and also about the concerns he has that African evacuees are facing discrimination at the borders.
