A film about women turning 50 in Lagos

Focus on Africa

Available for over a year

Fifty is a new Nigerian film about four successful, glamorous women in the ever-bustling, mega-city of Lagos. Apart from success, they have another thing in common: they are all hitting the big 5-O. It premiered at the London Film Festival a few days ago and is out in cinemas in Nigeria in December. BBC Africa’s Adrian Duke spoke to the director, Biyi Bandele – who two years ago also directed Half of a Yellow Sun - and began by asking him: Why a film about 50-year-old women?
