Cathy’s This Spiritual Life guest this week is the UK’s 'Queen of Soul', Beverley Knight. She’s back out on the road and will be sharing her upbringing in the Pentecostal church, as well as the time she was in a backing band with her musical hero, Prince. It’s been five years since a community came together in peaceful resistance against a Home Office detainment in Kenmure Street in Glasgow. Cathy talks to Simon Jay – the writer of a new play that marks the event. And the Right Reverend Rosie Frew joins Cathy to reflect on her last 12 months as moderator of the Church of Scotland ahead of its General Assembly next week. Her Faith Forum panel this week are Zara Mohammed, Scottish faith leader and former Secretary General of the Muslim Council of Britain, Laura Anderson, a Christian and an environmental scientist, and Bob Davies, professor of Religious and Cultural Education at the University of Glasgow. Together they debate some of the week’s headlines with a faith and ethical perspective. Now able to speak freely about the Scottish elections, they’ll be discussing voting behaviour and its place in a democracy, and they celebrate the wisdom that comes with old age as Sir David Attenborough reaches his 100th year. And a new podcast that explores the notion of success – the panel explore how it can best be measured.
