Bobby Rush calls in, and there's a Radio 2 debut for The Cockroaches!

The Blues Show with Cerys Matthews

Available for 29 days

Cerys's weekly round-up of the blues you need to hear, from all around the world and in all shapes and sizes! This week, legendary blues musician Bobby Rush calls in. The multi-Grammy Award winner performed the harmonica parts for the character of Delta Slim in the Oscar- and Bafta-winning film Sinners and was part of the on-stage Oscar ceremony performance. Bobby was born near Homer, Louisiana, in 1933 and has been playing blues since the 1950s. This year Bobby is back in the UK to perform at Red Rooster Festival in Suffolk alongside Valerie June and Jon Spencer. We give a break to new British blues band The Cockroaches! Plus highlights from last week's British Blues Awards! Produced by BBC Audio for BBC Radio 2.
