Big Day Out are Matt Chorley from Taunton, Lewis Georgeson from Wellington, together with actor William Kenning. Described as 'extremely funny' during their sell-out London run last autumn, their new show invites 'three men of varying sizes to guide you on a day trip of unexpected discovery, and as much fun as you can pack into an hour'. "It's a mix of sketches, songs and comic characters," Matt says. "Think the Two Ronnies, but up-to-date with a bit more swearing, and no glasses!" Comedy wavelengths Matt, now a journalist in London, and Lewis, a script writer for Sky One's football drama Dream Team, met when working in the media in Taunton. The pair hit it off, and a joint summer holiday led the two friends to discuss writing comedy. Lewis knew just the right person to complete the line-up – his university friend William Kenning. "We work well together as a trio," Lewis says. "We are all on the same wavelength, but we'll also say if we think something isn't funny. "We're always aiming to do the best material we can." A huge smash The show in Taunton is a preview to their performance at the Edinburgh Festival this August. The trio will tread the boards at the Pleasance Courtyard - the Edinburgh venue where Graham Norton, the League of Gentleman and Harry Hill cut their comedy teeth. If their previous work is anything to go by, Big Day Out will be a huge smash! There are two show times for the performance on Sunday 3 July, 2005 - 3pm and 8pm. Tickets are available from Aura, and Martian Records on Bridge Street in Taunton. |
