The Circus of Horrors made its debut at the 1995 Glastonbury Festival. Since then it's toured around the world gathering cult status. The show has now evolved into a theatre setting, and the Circus of Horrors brings its cargo of chainsaws, coffins, pickled people and a varied assortment of freaks and sensational circus acts into one alternative rock and roll circus treats. Ringmaster Doktor Haze describes the show as "a fusion between daredevil and bizarre circus acts performed by a cast of 26, plus rock and roll music played live by The X Factor, and all joined together with an 'Alice in Horror Land'-type story". The new show starts in 1900 - the last year of Queen Victoria's reign and the age of the freak show. An evil side-show has rolled into town and the attractive Ragen awakes to find herself in everyone's biggest nightmare. Inside the twisted world of The Circus of Horrors she discovers The Wasp Boy, who despite reducing his waist to 18" can still swallow five swords simultaneously and a lit neon tube, as well as Gary Stretch, who has quite literary the stretchiest skin in the world. Presided over by The Undead Ringmaster Doktor Haze, with music supplied by the live devil-driven rock 'n' roll five-piece band, The X Factor, this Frankenstein Monster of a show also features Voodoo acrobats and vampires flying through the air, suspended only by their hair. The Circus of Horrors show contains some nudity and language of an adult nature and is not deemed suitable for young children (under twelve). Older children should be accompanied by parents or guardians, and the show also contains strobe lighting, pyrotechnics and lots of fake blood. |
