The Cricket World Cup of summer 1999 forms the backdrop for this crime thriller focusing on Salim, a drug dealer and his best friend Kabir.

Working on the mean streets of London, this film follows Salim's gruesome seven-day journey after a drug deal goes horribly wrong.

In order to save his own life, Salim meets various dubious characters along the way as he get arrested by the police but later released due to lack of evidence against him.

But from then on his whole life spirals dangerously out of control leading to a gruesome and nail biting climax.

This Hindi version has been heavily inspired by the hugely successful Danish crime thriller of the same name directed by Nicolas Winding Refn.

British born actor Assad Raja not only stars in this film but is also the writer and director. He plays the character of Salim, the drug dealer.

Pusher also stars renowned Bollywood actress Mahima Choudhary who achieved Bollywood fame in director Subhash Ghai's UK box office smash hit, Pardes where she starred opposite Shah Rukh Khan.

Always up for a challenge and exciting new ventures, Pusher will be Mahima’s first British venture.

Mahima plays the character of Anita, Salim's girlfriend. Tension in their relationship causes lack of closeness and Anita eventually seeks refuge in heroin as a result.

Based in Hindi, Pusher has been made in the UK with an entire European crew on various English locations ranging from London to the Midlands. The film will see a Spring 2008 release in selected UK cinemas.
