
William Ruto: “A village boy becomes President of Kenya”
William Ruto along and Rigathi Gachagua have both been sworn in as president and deputy president of Kenya.
“A village boy has become the president of Kenya” William Ruto has proclaimed, while thousands of people cheered in a ceremony in Nairobi the capital of Kenya, as he takes the oath of office to become the country’s fifth president since independence in 1963.
Also in Ethiopia, officials in the region of Tigray have accused the Ethiopian army of conducting drone strikes against the University campus in the capital Mekelle, days after pledging to honour a ceasefire.
Over in Somalia, the president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud yesterday made an urgent appeal to the public to avoid Al-Shabab controlled areas. The announcement comes after intensified fighting from Al-Shabaab militants in recent months.
Plus, Tanzania’s three-times Olympian Magdalena Moshi is on a mission to end the culture silence on reproductive health issues around Africa, after she went through. a near death experience which had her undergoing emergency surgery to remove nearly four kilograms from uterine fibroids- a condition she later found out runs in her family but was a taboo subject.
