In the Democratic Republic of Congo, the UN says it’s investigating claims that its peacekeeping soldiers shot and killed civilians during days of violent confrontations. At least four UN soldiers and 16 civilians have been killed during protests calling for the MONUSCO force to withdraw from the country.
Plus, trouble for the running mate of current Deputy President and election candidate William Ruto, ahead of next month’s presidential vote. His running mate has been forced to hand over cash worth more than $1.5 million, after failing to explain where it came from.
And in Tanzania, the authorities have banned the sale of a popular herbal medicine sold to treat erectile dysfunction, after it was found to contain the key ingredient in Viagra.
