Several people, including UN peacekeepers, have been killed and scores injured in ongoing anti-UN protests in the eastern part of Democratic Republic of Congo. The UN Secretary General, has spoken forcefully on the matter describing attacks on peacekeepers as a possible war crime.
Plus, hundreds of workers have taken to the streets of the Nigerian capital, Abuja, in solidarity with university lecturers who have been on strike since February.
And miners in north-east Angola have unearthed the largest rare pink diamond in 300 years.
