South Africa: Eskom’s load shedding risks blackouts for citizens

South Africans are facing the prospect of continued power cuts as wage negotiations between the country’s main energy supplier, Eskom and two trade unions, the National Union of Mineworkers and the National Union of Metalworkers - continues.

Also on the program, decades old rivalry between Sudan and Ethiopia has escalated into clashes between their forces along disputed border town of al-Fashaga, following the alleged capture, execution, and public display of the bodies of seven Sudanese soldiers and a civilian - by Ethiopia. Ethiopia denies it was responsible for the killings.

Plus, Human rights campaigners in the UK say they're concerned about the welfare of Ghanian and Nigerian men and women being deported today by the British authorities. Some of them have lived in Britain for decades and some of them are affected by mental problems; others could face persecution - either because of their religion or on the basis of their sexual orientation. Protestors have gathered in County Durham in north-east England to demand that they remain in Britain.
