Tunisia has been brought to a standstill after the public sector went on a nationwide strike in protest at government plans for a wage freeze and cuts in state subsidies.
Kenya's President Uhuru Kenyatta has called for the immediate deployment of a new regional military force in the east of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
