Detained Rwandan hip-hop star Jay Polly dies

The artist was detained in April after holding a party in breach of Covid regulations.

One of Rwanda's most famous rappers, Jay Polly, has died at the age of 33 in a hospital in Kigali. The artist was in jail awaiting trial on drug charges, and was rushed to hospital early on Thursday.

The gunman who killed four people near the French embassy in Tanzania's main city Dar es Salaam last week before being shot dead was "a terrorist", local police have said.
