WHO says new and faster spreading variants fuelling Covid-19 third wave
The Delta Covid-19 variant, has been detected in 16 African countries.
The World Health Organization says that new and faster spreading variants are fuelling the continent’s surging third wave, with infections reaching an all-time peak compared to past waves.
A state memorial service has been held for Zambia's first president, Kenneth Kaunda. Mr Kaunda died last month, aged 97, after suffering from pneumonia.
And in Kenya, scientists are investigating a new disease that’s killing thousands of mangrove trees on the coast.
