Chad: President Idriss Déby has died
President Déby died from his injuries during clashes with rebels, the army has said.
The announcement came a day after provisional election results projected he would win a sixth term in office. The government and parliament have been dissolved.
It is reported that Mr Déby was wounded fighting rebels in Kanem region, just 400 kilometres from the capital, N'Djamena.
A military council led by Mr Déby's son, General Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, will rule the country for the next 18 months.
