Millions at risk of blindness in Kenya

Newspapers report that lifesaving drugs are being held at the airport over unpaid clearance fees. Some of the drugs being held are meant to treat people with trachoma - jeopardising a government target to eliminate the disease in the next two years.

The regional president of Ethiopia's Somali region has resigned. Abdi Mohamud Omar's resignation comes after several days of ethnic clashes between Oromo and Somali communities.

Nigerian lawmakers have been called back to parliament urgently - to discuss matters the presidency says are too urgent to leave till September, when they're due back from their break.
