Dark Comedy Meets Political Intrigue in New Martin McDonagh Drama, 'Wild Horse Nine.'

Director Martin McDonagh is known for his dark comedies, which include the Oscar-nominated films 'In Bruges,' 'Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri' and 'The Banshees of Inisherin.'

Now the Irish filmmaker is back with what's seen as his most explicitly political movie to date. 'Wild Horse Nine' is set shortly before the 1973 Chilean coup, when Santiago-based CIA agents Chris and Lee are dispatched to Easter Island.

It's being tipped as a possible Oscar contender, with much-praised performances from its two leading actors, John Malkovich and Sam Rockwell.

Alan Moloney caught up with the director and cast at its recent BFI London Film Festival premiere.
